How many Packing Princesses are needed to Pack or unpack my home?

Usually 2 or 3 Princesses are required for each job, depending on how large your home is and how many items are in your home.  Packing Princesses can pack or unpack 4-5 cartons per hour, depending on the size and delicacy of the items. 

For large or complex moves our Moving Manager may do an on-site estimation with you to assess the rooms and items you wish to have packed or unpacked.

Most of our customers choose to purchase a fixed number of hours, then extend their booking if necessary.

How long will it take to pack or unpack my home?

Now, that depends on how many rooms are in your home and how many items you own.  Below is a table to help guide you.

How many boxes will I need?

You may decide to pack all or part of your home yourself.   Our experienced team has prepared this easy-to-follow estimate guide for your help (for table of item prices please scroll down):

Small move – 1 or 2 bedroom home approx. 15 – 25 cubic metres

  • 2 – 3 Porta-robes
  • 30 – 40 x big boxes
  • 15 – 25 x small boxes

Medium / Large move – 2 or 3 bedroom home 25 -35 cubic metres

Does Packing Princesses provide cleaning?

Prior to placing items in your new home, your Packing Princesses team will wipe down cupboards and shelves and even wash the items themselves when requested. Your Moving Manager can arrange a pre-entry and an exit clean for you if required.

Can you unpack on the same day as the removalist unloads the furniture?

Moving day is busy! There will be many people in your home. Packing Princesses typically takes one day to complete the unpacking of a standard sized home or apartment. If your removalist unloads early in the morning, Packing Princesses can unpack that day, setting up priority areas like the bedrooms and kitchen first. The remainder of the unpack can be completed the next day, if required.

Can my hours be delivered in a flexible way?

We aim to be as flexible as possible in meeting your needs. You can tell us what you would like packed and/or unpacked or how many hours you would like us to help you in your move. Or our Moving Manager can help you decide how many hours you may need. At Packing Princesses we have a 4-hour minimum per person per booking. So, here are some examples:

  • For a partial pack / unpack, you may require one Packing Princess for 4 hours.
  • For a medium home pack/unpack, you may require one Packing Princess for 8 hours, or two for 4 hours each.
  • For a large home pack / unpack, you may require three Packing Princesses for 8 hours each or four for 6 hours each.

But don’t worry! Extra hours can be arranged even after your job has commenced, if required. Just give us a call!

Does Packing Princesses check-in with me after my service?

Yes we do! You are important to us and in the days following your move, your Moving Manager will call and see if there is anything else we can do to help make your move stress free.

Can you put me or my elderly parents in touch with their new local community services?

Yes we can! Finding your new services in your new area can be challenging. When requested, your Moving Manager can help locate for you where essential services are, like transport hubs, dentists, doctors surgeries and grocery stores.

What about insurance?

Your Moving Manager will help you decide on how best to handle your most precious possessions, for example, any fragile or valuable items, artwork and jewellery to keep your move stress-free. We recommend all clients take out moving insurance cover for peace of mind throughout the removal process.  Purchasing moving insurance is a very important part of your move!


Moving house can be a daunting and expensive exercise if you are unprepared. To help you keep to your budget, here are our costs. Your Moving Manager will be happy to give you an estimate.

Packing or unpacking: $55.00 per hour per Packing Princess. Remember we have a 4 hour minimum per Princess.
